Eminent Filipino Fashion designer Avel Bacudio wows the world with Epson fabric prints

Multi-awarded Filipino fashion designer Avel Bacudio will wow the world again with his ‘F Mode Fashion Show/Expo’ that will be held on September 12, 2015 at the Sta. Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, California.

Avel has won several fashion awards, including the People’s Choice Award – Concours International Des Jeunes Createurs De Mode, Top 10 Timeless Terno – Metropolitan Museum of Manila, 2012 Breakthrough Designer of the Year, and the 2014 Asia’s Most Influential Designer. His designs have been worn by celebrities and praised in the international scene.

Recently, Avel has been utilizing digital prints to bring his creative ideas to life.

“Iba ang nagagawa ng digital prints – di na’ko limited. Napu-push yung creativity ko to the next level. Andami kong pwedeng gawing bago para ma-express ko ang sarili ko,” (“Digital prints really make a difference; I am no longer constrained by traditional limitations. I can do a lot to express myself in new ways.”) said Avel.

To make sure his vision is translated faithfully to fabric, Avel uses the Epson F7170 textile printer.

“Tuwang-tuwa ako dito kasi napapalabas nya sakto yung vision ko. Kung ano yung nasa isip ko, yun ang nakikita ko,” (I’m delighted with this printer because it faithfully translates my vision to reality. Whatever I picture in my mind is what comes out in the final product,”) he emphasized.

Pamela Albar, Epson’s Head for Commercial and Industrial printers, is all praises for Avel. “It’s an honor to be part of Avel’s work – we’re very happy to be a part of how he’s contributing to the international fashion conversation. And we’re pleased that he has chosen Epson textile printers to break boundaries and push Philippine fashion to new heights.”

Epson and Avel first collaborated in 2014 for a fashion show titled ‘Fashion Forward’. Epson launched their new textile printers in that fashion show and partnered with several Filipino fashion designers to try out the new products. After seeing how easy, effective, and helpful the Epson F7170 was in his work, Avel has been using the printer to do all his digital print designs.

Avel Bacudio will also showcase his designs at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 18, 2015 in Paris, France.

Epson RIPS Technology wins BLI Outstanding Achievemt in Innovation Award

Epson recently announced that its Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS) technology had been recognized by Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), a leading provider of independent information to the imaging industry, with the Outstanding Achievement in Innovation Award for the summer 2015 test season. The awards are made to companies that provide something new to the market and set new standards and goals to which others can aspire.

Used with Epson’s acclaimed series of WorkForce Pro Replaceable Ink Pack Printers, RIPStechnology solves many of the issues associated with office printing by using super-high-yield ink supply units for printing up to 75,000* pages between ink changes. The result of this is less wasted time and resources, and predictable print costs.

In its citation, BLI noted that printers using the technology achieved:
· Phenomenally high tested yields for all colors.
· Ultra-long-life consumables, which help maintain office productivity and reduce pain points for IT administration.
· User-friendly replacement and maintenance procedures.
· Compact and low waste packaging advantage, which will suit space-constrained office environments.
“The super-high ink yields offered by the Epson RIPS are a game-changer in the office marketplace, drastically reducing office user consumable replacement frequencies and negating the need for spare sets of toners or inks on site which take up valuable space,”noted David Sweetnam, BLI’s director of research and lab services in Europe. “The ultra-long life supplies will also be an attractive proposition for suppliers offering ‘all inclusive’ contracts, greatly reducing logistics costs and headaches associated with keeping clients stocked with supplies at all times.”

“We are proud to receive the BLI ‘Outstanding Achievement in Innovation’ award for WorkForce Pro RIPS,” said Yoshiro Nagafusa, general manager for printer sales at Seiko Epson.“According to BLI’s independent tests, WorkForce Pro RIPS models can deliver up to 75,000 pages of uninterrupted high-quality print without the need to replace consumables, in addition to using far less energy and generating less waste than laser competitors."

“Epson believes that inkjet printing now demonstrates clear advantages over laser in the office, and offers efficiencies to businesses of all sizes. We will continue to promote this shift,” commented Nagafusa.

BLI also named the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-8590 as this summer’s Outstanding A3 Low- to Mid-Volume Business Inkjet All-in-One, and the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590 as the Outstanding A3 Mid- to High-Volume Business Inkjet All-in-One.

Using an A3 model. Yields are based on simulations generated after testing with ISO/IEC24711 measurement methodology using ISO/IEC 24712 patterns and calculated using Epson’s methodology. Yields may vary for reasons including images printed, documents printed, printing frequency and printing environment.

“Abot-Tanaw ni George Tapan” Exhibit , Taps Epson technologies for natural looking photos of Filipino indigenous tribes

"With a camera as his instrument and the outdoors his element, Master George Tapan is known for his timeless and priceless photographs."

Distinguished Filipino photographer George Tapan showcases the diversity of Filipino tribes in his latest exhibit “Abot-Tanaw ni George Tapan” at the National Museum of Anthropology located at the Old Finance Building along Finance Road, Ermita, Manila. The exhibit was unveiled last June 19, and will run Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM until August 16.

As one of the original Epson PRO, an eminent group of photographers and graphic artists in the Philippines, George Tapan has been a long-time Epson user, and considers Epson as part of his family.

“For this exhibit, I used Epson scanners and printers, because in my eye, Epson produces the nearest natural color. The right color, archival ink, and the variety of paper or media to choose from is why I chose Epson as a partner for exhibits, including this one. For the “Abot-Tanaw” exhibit at the National Museum, I used Epson’s archival paper that produces no glare, to help me showcase the beauty of the subjects and photographs without using an encasing glass.”

“Abot-Tanaw ni George Tapan” features the diverse culture of the Philippines as shown by the different indigenous tribes around the country. The subject matter is close to his heart, as showing recognition to these indigenous tribes is part of his personal advocacy. “We should never forget the indigenous people; we should show them respect and give them dignity. Without them, there is no us,” he elaborated.

His many years of traveling in all parts of the country have yielded a wealth of images showing the very essence of Filipino tribal life. “For me, a good photograph captures the spirit of each tribe. Although I give directions and make plans before capturing the images to remove the distractions from the environment, I make sure that the image is very natural,” he explained.

“I also scan and give them a copy of their own photographs, as they believe that taking photos can steal their souls. By sharing these with them, I make them happy and they feel that I care about their beliefs. My small Epson printer and scanner have helped me do that.”

As George Tapan’s digital imaging partner for “Abot-Tanaw”Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) used the Epson SureColor SC-P607 – a reliable photo printer that delivers true quality, unprecedented black density, and true-to-life color gradations and definitions – and Watercolor radiant white art paper and Premium Glossy Photo paper to print the exhibit photographs.

“Epson is glad to be a part of this demonstration of Filipino talent. As a distinguished member of the crème de la crème of Filipino photographers, George Tapan’s eye for detail has given the world a new perspective. And as his partner in highlighting this part of our culture, Epson is glad to have the technology to give justice in realizing the finer points and overall life-like image reproduction of his photos. After all, the beauty of the Philippines deserves only the best prints,” said Pamela Albar, Head of Epson’s Commercial & Industrial Department.
